Question by firenice: Turned 35 so time to get healthy, help?
I am a 35 yo female who is relativly healthy. I exercise by walking everyday, and at the gym about 2-3 times a wk with cardio and weights. I am ht/wt appropriate with a bmi of 18.5 so am just looking to build muscle and improve cardio. I smoke and have tried everything under the sun to stop but will keep trying. I drink wine a few times a wk. I eat very healthy and take a multi vtm.
I am looking to make and start a program by detoxifying my body, any diet ideas are much appreciated and how it worked for you and how long it takes.
Any ideas to quit smoking would be great too. I have tried pills, patches, cold turkey.
Any other ideas for living healthier are welcome as well. 35 has kind of freaked me out, lol

as for diet ideas, drink water instead of everything else (one glass of wine per day is very healthy though, continue that). cut out empty calories (calories with no nutritional value; ex: potato chips, sodas, things of that nature).
as for quitting smoking, the only thing i can think of is to try to keep your hands and body busy. if you feel the need to smoke a cigarette, do some jumping jacks, take up knitting, anything to keep your mind off the cigarettes will help.
another strategy is to go w/ halfsies…smoke only 1/2 of a cigarette, then 1/4, then just cut down on the number of cigarette breaks you take. i’ve been trying to get my mom off smoking for years now, motivation from friends and family is the best method (as long as its constant; i can’t provide that seeing how i live 2 hrs away). good luck!
