Absolutely not. But,if you perform at least a little exercises few times a week, than, yes, you will loose weight. Water is only a helper in weight loss, as it speeds up processes in organism, including metabolism.

Weight loss = spend more calories than you take.

The Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) has urged young women in Australia to ‘ditch the detox’ and instead pledge to eat a balanced diet, after new research found that many women are resorting to unproven detox diets to try to shift unwanted kilos.

A Newspoll survey of 200 women aged 18-24, commissioned by the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), found 60 per cent have tried to lose weight in the past year. Of those, one in four have used a ‘fad diet’, with lemon detox and liver cleansing diets two of the most popular.

In the survey, almost half (47 per cent) of the women who had attempted to lose weight in the past year said they would like to lose more weight.

The DAA is launching its annual Australia’s Healthy Weight Week campaign (22 to 29 January 2012), which this year appeals to 18-25 year old women to commit to looking and feeling their best.

DAA Spokesperson Melanie McGrice said, “We’re urging young women to forget magic powders, awful-tasting drinks and starvation plans, and to be wary of any diet that promises quick or dramatic results.”

According to Ms McGrice, detox diets are touted as a way to remove toxins from the body. They usually include a period of fasting and a strict diet. However, many cut out certain foods, some promote using herbs and supplements, and most last seven to 10 days.

Ms McGrice said there’s little evidence detox diets actually remove toxins. She said side effects of detox diets can include dehydration, fatigue, bad breath, constipation, dizziness and nausea.

“These diets are unrealistic and unsustainable. Some women will end up blaming themselves for not being able to stick to the ‘diet’ – but the truth is it’s simply not an option to eat nothing but raw foods or sip a lemon drink for any length of time,” Ms McGrice said.

“The best ‘detox’ is drinking plenty of water, and eating a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, wholegrain breads and cereals, lean meat, chicken or fish, lower-fat dairy foods and healthy fats.”

How Does becoming a Vegetarian Affect Your Body?

We live in a toxic age. Our water is laced with heavy metals. the air we breathe is polluted with carbon byproducts. What we eat is chemically enhanced or genetically modified to last longer, taste better, and fill us up with superfluous calories. Even our body’s burning of fats, proteins and sugars for energy creates waste. So cleaning out our guts has to be a good idea, right?

Yes and no. Our body can clean up its own mess, the body does not passively soak up toxins like a sponge. it has defences and resources which constantly act even while you sleep. When toxins enter your body, these are swiftly dealt with. but if our body can take care of its own waste, why do we sometimes feel bloated enough to want to stick a plunger down our gut? Pro-detox experts think we can do with some extra help.

Experts thinks that the body is already detoxifying itself all along, but we live in a toxic environment. How does becoming a vegetarian affect your body?

Our bodies are designed to eat animals as well as plants. I’m 13 but I’ve basically grown as tall as I’m going to get; and I know that your supposed to eat fish twice a week. is it unhealthy to become vegetarian? Will tofu and vitamins be enough to keep me healthy? I was also wondering if there are any health concerns that appear later in life if you become a vegetarian as young as I plan to. I plan to keep eating fish but keep off of all other types of meat.

Also thinking LATER in life, what if I get pregnant? should I start eating meat again? Would that affect the health of the baby during pregnancy?

Also, will switching my diet so suddenly upset my digestive system?

I heard that many Vegetarians get dark circles under there eyes, how to prevent this?

How do I get more protein into my diet if I’m going to be vegetarian? I plan to keep eating fish; will that be enough?

I became a vegetarian back in february and I lost 7 lbs. by doing so. but you have to make sure to get enough protein because if not then you’re more likely to become anemic. I have never heard about the dark circles under your eyes. I know a lot of vegetarians and they don’t have dark circles so it’s not true.
