Natural Ways to Detoxify Your Body

A lot of people believe that it is important to detoxify one’s body at least once a year. They are right! Our bodies absorb toxins from the air we breathe, the food we eat, and from many other daily activities. The buildup of these toxins is said to contribute to many illnesses, ranging anywhere from cancer to diabetes. Detoxifying your body helps you reduce the risk of developing certain illnesses and it makes you feel healthier all around.

The best way to start a detox session is by going through a twenty-four hour fast. Before beginning a detox regimen be sure to discuss your plan with your physician, especially if you are on any medications. During your fast, as well as throughout the entire detox process, make sure that you stay properly hydrated. You should drink at least two liters of water per day. It is also recommended to begin and end each day with a glass of hot water with fresh lemon juice. Hot water with fresh lemon juice helps detoxify your liver and your kidneys.

After the twenty-four hour fast, eat as much raw fruit and vegetables as possible. Continue this for the rest of the week. Raw fruit and vegetables are easy to digest, provide excellent nutrition, and have an amazing cleaning affect on the body. The high amount of fiber in these foods aids in flushing toxins from your body. Remember to always try to find the freshest fruit and vegetables. Finding organic fruit and vegetables is even better. During a detox session it is also important to spend at least fifteen minutes per day walking.
