The First Lady of Nutrition did it again. Great book for the Fat Flush Veteran or new comers. Great recipes. Some new suppliments. The book really takes a whole life approach. Easy on for people on the go to follow. This book is about your mind, body and soul and how it all relates to healthy weight loss. Two thumbs up from me.

Fat Flush For Life is a spectacular book! I love the original Fat Flush as I have used it successfully for years. The new FFFL (Fat Flush For Life) is so great for the veteran fat flusher as well as those new to fat flush principles. I really love the addition of seasonal eating and seasonal vegetarian. Once again, Ann Gittleman hits a home run with another great book. In the first part, Ann reviews the basics of her signature fat flush diet. She brings us up to speed with the changes she made based on reader input–making it easier and more practical to follow for those with busy schedules (which includes about everybody.) She also introduces new foods and supplements (ex: chia seeds for Omega-3 fatty acids). The book includes new menus and recipes (including budget-friendly and time-saver ones) and also “Fat Flush on the Fly” recommendations for “legal” convenience foods on the menus. She also details 6 reasons why the fat flush diet works. Furthermore, Ann explains how she updated the fat flush diet based on recent scientific research (Ex: Fish oil is added for tummy fat reduction).
What sets this book apart from all other detox books I have seen (and I have an entire shelf of them!) is that there is a diet for each season of the year. There is a chapter devoted to a one-week “pre-fat flush” program, with menus and a wellness plan to get your geared up and get your body ready. Then there is a separate chapter for each of the seasonal detox diets. Each season’s chapter includes the symptoms that typically appear in that season, foods to take (along with their benefits, and brand names recommended), a daily guide, a wellness program (which includes such things as Bach flower remedies and aroma therapy), and an exercise program (often complete with photos). The autumn plan is vegetarian.
Sprinkled throughout the book are testimonials of fat flushers, complete with before and after photos which are truly inspiring, info-boxes with topics such as “hot metabolism insider secrets”), and little circles with “You know you are a fat flusher when…” (ex: “your son holds up a food item and says, `Is this a clean carb?’”). There is a very interesting and unique diagram of each tooth and which organ and which emotions correspond to it. At the end, of course, we have an entire chapter with yummy new fat flush recipes.
My only critique is with regards to some of the foods she lists. For example, tofu is used in the vegetarian menu, yet soy has been found in so many ways to be toxic. (Read The Whole Soy Story by Kaayla Daniel, PhD, CCN). She also includes dairy–and for many people (including myself), this is very constipating and in fact one of the things we need to detox from! She also prescribes too much cooked food, claiming it is needed in the winter. I know Ann is against raw vegan diets, and I concur, but why not a raw diet that includes animal foods (which, from my experience is the absolute most cleansing diet, since cooking food produces toxic byproducts.)
Nonetheless, the book is loaded with gems and pearls. Ann gives us the reason for the book: “With a whole new breed of toxins threatening health, the need for detox has never been greater. Think estrogen `mimics’ in preservative and pesticides; percholorate (a derivative of rocket fuel), antibiotics and drugs in our water supply; electromagnetic energy fields (EMFs) from cell phones and other Wi-Fi sources; and phthalates (a new variety of plastics), for starters. But can our liver and lymph handle it?”

I found Fat Flush for Life to be just what I needed this winter season. Living in a cold climate I want to get in shape after the holidays and detox in a healthy way that would not stress my immune system. I’m enjoying the easy to fix recipes and new menu ideas. The specific techniques for detox and winter exercise are making me feel great. There are so many more options for veteran Fat Flushers.
I’ve been a fan of Dr. Ann Louise for many years and read almost all of her other books. I feel that this is such a incredible lifestyle program, which has completely new ideas while incorporating her time tested wisdom.

Once again the First Lady of Nutrition Dr. Ann Louise has written a page turner! You’ll want to read it front to back as soon as you get it. Ann Louise writes about what you and me the every day person can do to become healthy in 2010. Once you read FF4L you’ll see food, enviroment, exercise in a different way. It’s more than a Detox plan it becomes a way of life. What is great about Ann Louise she doesn’t rest on her laurels she continues to do the research to find a better healthier way for us all to live and her website is wonderful [...] You’ll want to give Fat Flush for Life to all your family and friends.
