i always feel run down and suffer from things like ulcers in my mouth and sore throats a lot..recently i decided to try a detox so i havent drank alcohol for 3 weeks all i have drank is water and greed tea.. havent smoked for a week and have been eating a health diet for about 3 weeks also. but to my suprise i dont feel any better at all..still tired..still feel run down..what is wrong with me…does anyone else feel like this? the only other thing is that i worry alot about my health i suppose you could call me a hypercondriac…do u think worry can make u feel ill? i know people say it but is it true?
Go see a doctor. you might want to take vitamins. your probably getting sore throats and mouth ulcers because your immune is weak and therefore subjecting you to be sick all the time.
to quit smoking and drinking for a week or two is not enough. the mouth and throat problem happened to me when i quit smoking and drinking but i suffered it for more than a month. keep drinking water and you better put some lemon in you green tea or water everyday.. seems like you have been drinking and smoking for a long time..
Sounds like stress / depression, however, you mentioned that you've not smoked for a week. Don't you think that the smoking might cause things like sore throats / ulcers? you have to give it time to work. it sounds like you're doing the right thing. It's not a magic cure.
Yes its very true. if you're into self help books at all (and I know not everyone is) try getting a book from your library called "Excuse me your Life is Waiting" by Lynn Grabhorn. its interesting reading for someone like yourself but not full of tons of complicated advice and instructions.
you need to go to the GP with a urine sample and be prepared for blood tests. it could be a number of different but totally curable things, but they will need to accurately diagnose the problem first.
could be that your body is just taking time to rid itself of toxins. dont give up yet, it may get better.
You doctor could give some blood tests, but you may be experiencing detox symptoms. if after some weeks / months you still feel tired/ill,and after you doctor has exhausted investigations, private medical investigations may help-along the lines of allergy / infection testing.
It sounds like you could be anaemic. you may need to go to the doctor for some iron supplements. Check your symptoms with the links below and make an appointment with your doctor.
Hope this helps and you feel better soon!
could be depression see your doc
it sounds like your body is just still getting rid of all the rubbish you've previously put in it. did you eat a healthy diet before giving up smoking and drinking? your body just needs time to adjust to all the good things you're putting in it so make sure you drink plenty of water every day, stay away from caffeine, and eat at least your five-a-day. you body needs protein, carbs, vitamins, and minerals to stay healthy and be able to repair itself. wholemeal pasta and bread is much better for you than white, and try not to have too much fat, salt, or sugar in your diet. sugar inhibits the bodies ability to heal itself so a lot is not good for you.
perhaps you should visit your doctor to get some general advice, about healthy diets too. he may do some blood tests to check there's nothing wrong with you biologically too. if you explain everything that you've been doing over the past 3 weeks or so, then he should also be able to tell you if what we've all been telling you is correct! we're not medically trained, so can only go on our own experiences.
good luck with your health, i hope you feel better soon.
You ask about the effect of worry on your health, and I believe you may be thinking of what is known as Psychosomatic Illness, ie., an illness that may be emotional or mental in origin but have physical symptoms. these illnesses are not imaginary; they are physical disorders in which both emotions and thought patterns are believed to play a central role, and usually develop when a person's disease-fighting ability is weakened due to stress. you also say that you worry a lot about your health and this, in itself, is a symptom that needs attention. People who stay healthy are generally those that are happy. you don't, however, mention if you've been to your GP or undergone any sort of tests to determine the cause of your ill-health, as you may have an infection or your body may be deficient in vitamins and/or iron. for instance, a sore throat that keeps returning and extreme fatigue, along with swollen glands, are symptoms of Glandular Fever and only a Paul Bunnell blood test would confirm such a diagnosis. if you are ill, or are vitamin/iron iron deficient, detoxing wouldn't be of any help and may even make you feel worse, and whilst cutting out alcohol, giving-up smoking and adopting a healthier diet would lead to long-term health improvement, you wouldn't feel the benefits after the short time of only 1-3 weeks. (Especially if you have an underlying illness). do consult your doctor in order to get to the bottom of your present ill-health and then continue with your efforts to improve your lifestyle. Hope you'll soon be feeling a lot better.
Mae it's because you have not been brushing your teeth as much as you should, I know that happens if you don't brush them as often.
sound like symptoms of stress or depression
Well done for stopping smoking! I did this six months ago and I know how hard it is. I suspect that your problems might be due to you not smoking. When I gave up, I had mouth ulcers, felt really agitated, had a headache for two weeks solid, felt anxious etc. plus, you have stopped drinking also (another well done!). your body is adjusting that is all. I suggest you get some good (not supermarket rubbish) multivitamin (try Veridian at health food shops). plus some high dose slow release Vitamin C – get from boots. try taking about 20 minutes of exercise per day – just walk around the block a couple of times if necessary – that will release the feel good endorphines naturally produced in the body. Worry about one's health is actually quite normal – many people do it – it is also a sign of anxiety but again, all quite normal. I have to admit I am a bit of a hypocondriac – always have been but since I have stopped smoking I have become much less so. When you smoke, every little twinge or pain you get you think – this is it, I've got cancer because you know you are doing something that is extremely bad for you. go to your GP, tell him you have given up and ask for a routine blood test – this will just check all the basic functions which I suspect are normal. after I stopped smoking for 8 weeks I paid for a BUPA health check (I also had a chest Xray). This can be expensive (£500 but includes lung function, ECG, full bloods, liver and kidney function, mamogram, smear, hearing, vision and a doctor consultation) but you can just have a full blood test which will reduce the costs massively – go to bupa.co.uk. This put my mind at rest that I had not done any damage after 20 years of smoking and really spurred me on. I still worry about my health from time to time – I do suffer with anxiety occassionally but this is normal – it's certainly not to be confused with depression and does not need medication. you have done really well, keep on going, honestly you will come out the other end feeling so much better and less anxious about your health. most people do one thing at a time but you have tackled all of them at once – maybe a glass of wine or a bar or chocolate will calm you down and give you a well earned treat – stay off the ciggies though! Best of luck. x
