The incidence of colon cancer is second only to that of lung cancer. More and more people are diagnosed with this form of cancer every year. Are the harmful remnants of fecal matter in the intestine to blame for the increase in colon cancer cases?

Health experts say that colon cleansing has no effect on colon health. They claim that it will certainly not prevent disease, and it may in fact be harmful. Many people, however, are turning to this method as a means for maintaining good health.

Colon cancer and other colon diseases can have a devastating effect on the sufferers’ health. At the more severe end of the spectrum, people are sometimes required to have a colostomy, or surgical removal of part of the intestine. This can have a huge impact on your life and health.

Depending on the amount of intestine that is removed, a colostomy bag may be necessary. Because fecal matter cannot pass through the intestines and follow the normal excretion process, it is passed into the colostomy bag. This must be manually emptied regularly.

Preventing this extreme procedure is the key. Cancer or other disorders of the colon are not always preventable, but there is a percentage of situations where problems are avoidable by maintaining good colon health through colonic irrigation and a healthy diet.

Those trying to maintain colon health through diet typically avoid artificial foods and preservatives, such as high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. These foods can attack your colon because they are not easily digested and excreted; this may make the colon more susceptible to illness.

The toxicity of regular food is capable on its own of causing disease and cancer, but in tandem with synthetic chemicals, the liklihood for severe damage skyrockets.

This constant abuse to your digestive system can impact its ability to absorb nutrients, and can result in chronic constipation.

If this happens, bowel movements are typically smaller. Many people do not even notice that they have a problem because they are still having bowel movements. What they don’t realize is that the lining of their intestines are being coated with fecal matter that is not passing.

Malnutrition becomes a concern because the body is not absorbing and processing necessary nutrients. This can go unnoticed by many people, but they will notice that they just don’t “feel like themselves.” This is because your overall health and well-being is affected. Diets rich in natural and unprocessed foods can help remedy these symptoms.

Incredibly, as much as five to twenty pounds of fecal matter can build up in the colon. At this point, diet may help alleviate the problem, but it won’t eliminate it.

Many people find laxatives or hydrotherapy effective in cleansing the bowels. Not only does it reduce the feeling of being unwell that many people suffer, it also allows the colon and digestive system to get back to work and start to absorb nutrients again. This in turn alleviates constipation and symptoms of malnutrition.

Colonic irrigation has the obvious benefit of helping sufferers feel much better. But many people also report that they have lost considerable weight after undergoing treatments such as these.

How do you know you have an issue with your colon? You may notice different signs, which may include diarrhea, insomnia, gas, fatigue, constipation, prostate problems, headaches, backaches, and weight retention. Many of these go unnoticed because you may not immediately link them with colon health, and they may be very mild.

If you experience any of these symptoms, your colon may be trying to tell you something. Listen and improve your health.

When you detox your body, you can garner great health benefits, reversing the damage that living with toxins can cause. Toxins are all around you – in the air you breathe, in the chemicals you spray for bugs or air fresheners, the preservatives and dyes in your food and even in your shampoo! A full body detox is your only option to regain the energy you once had that the toxins have been depriving you of unwittingly for so long.

Feeling tired, even after a good night’s sleep, can be caused by a build-up of toxins and skin blemishes, headaches, bloating, slow digestion and lower immunity are other repercussions. You can detox your body and recover all that energy and zest for life that may have been missing. There are a number of ways you can detox your body and while some may be more appetizing or easier than others, you might want to experiment a bit to find the best solutions that fit your body and lifestyle.

Dietary Ways

You can detox your body by changing your eating habits and revamping your food choices for a healthier diet full of natural and organic items. Shun any processed foods and refined sugars as they are not only toxic to your body but they add many unwanted pounds. Choose only foods that occur naturally in nature so as to be sure your food choices are healthy and sound. Ensure that you get healthy doses of vitamins and minerals in addition to antioxidants that are heart healthy and boost energy and metabolism.

Your liver is the primary organ that helps break down toxins so that the body can eliminate them naturally. To detox your body, your food choices should reflect ingredients that best aid in liver function such as vitamin C, fiber foods such as grains, fruit and vegetables and even herbs like dandelion and green tea. In addition, drinking several quarts of water per day can detox your body as well, especially in conjunction with positive dietary changes.

Other Ways

Deep breathing exercises introduce higher levels of oxygen in your body and are a great addition in the process to detox your body. When higher levels of oxygen circulate, your brain has more clarity and your other organs benefit as well. Engaging in activities that promote sweat is another way to detox your body, as sweat is one of the best ways to rid your body of toxins.

Water therapy is a great way to detox your body whether it is alternating hot and cold showers for a period of time or even indulging in an ionized water foot spa. The foot spa can work to draw out the toxins through the pores using ionized water, which will turn colors to show that impurities are being drawn out.

Reducing stress is the final way you can detox your body and it is also one of the hardest to do, thanks to higher costs of living and other personal worries. Meditation, biofeedback, imagery and yoga are just a few ways to detox your body and help reduce the stress in your life. Not every solution works may work for you, so be sure to experiment, allowing enough time to see which ones will work.

Detox pads, or health pads as they are sometimes called, are pouches containing a blend of natural ingredients that have been used for centuries in Eastern, primarily Japanese, medicine, such as tourmaline, a mineral that emits negative ions, and different vinegars. You stick them to the bottom of your feet before sleeping and when you wake up in the morning, you will find a discoloration in the detox pads indicating the presence of toxins that have been drawn out of your body while you slept. The concept of foot detox pads are based on reflexology beliefs that the feet have zones that correspond to the different organs of the body. Toxins from these organs can travel down to the feet and be drawn out through the detox pads.

Among the different detoxification systems available out there, the use of foot detox pads is perhaps the simplest and most convenient. They can be used in the comfort of your own home and they can be used without having to set aside a certain time for sessions. Detox pads are generally for use on the soles of your feet, where many nerve endings are, but they can still do their job when applied on other body parts, especially those that are painful, stiff, or swollen.

Through osmosis, detox pads are able to stimulate the lymphatic system, allowing it to drain itself of toxins, which then seep out of the pores of the skin of the feet. Some are doubtful of the foot detox pads’ ability to draw toxins, especially heavy metals, out of the body via the skin pores, but tests had been conducted and they effectively showed that metals such as lead, arsenic, and mercury are present in used foot detox pads. Users themselves had also been tested and those who had had high concentrations of metals in their blood showed an improvement in their blood content after using the detox pads.

Tests may have proven the credibility of detox pads, but their effectiveness is manifested most in the condition of their user afterwards. Those who doubt may very well continue to do so and put the improvement in blood content down to other factors, but they cannot put the fact that many people have tried the product and have been relieved from various maladies down to plain coincidence. The point here is that the suspicious should give foot detox pads a chance before indulging prejudice and dismissing them as a hoax.
